The Carrie Diaries is introducing a familiar face.

In the sophomore season of The Carrie Diaries, the 1980s drama will introduce yet another character from Sex and the City: Samantha Jones, who would become one of Carrie Bradshaw's closest friends.

According to the CW, viewers will see how Carrie and Samantha first met. The role of young Samantha has not yet been cast. (On the HBO comedy, adult Samantha was played by Kim Cattrall.)
Samantha isn't the first Sex and the City character to be introduced on the show. The season-one finale referenced Stanford Blatch, a role that Willie Garson played, as being Bennett's (Jake Robinson) roommate.
"I know exactly how I would like to introduce each of the characters into the show, and he's not going to be the only one, that's for sure," Carrie Diaries executive producer Amy B. Harris hinted to The Hollywood Reporter in April.

She added: "I know what I want season two to look like and who I think is showing up, but I always thought that Bennett and Stanford were probably roommates and that's how Carrie ends up meeting Stanford."
One week after the CW renewed the one-hour prequel, the network slotted the modestly-rated Carrie Diaries to a new home on the fall schedule. Led by AnnaSophia Robb in the title role, the series will kick off what the CW is calling "stylish" and "fashionable" Fridays with model competition America's Next Top Model following at 9 p.m.
